What happens at group sessions?
Activities we do in the group are tried and tested by specialists in leading Parkinson's voice groups, endorsed by our local speech and language therapists and are designed to exercise all the muscles that are important in the production of speech , including core muscles.
Each session involves a warm up, followed by a main focus, such as breathing, resonance or articulation. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided and each session ends with a good old sing song
However, attending such a group provides much more than vocal exercises. Attendance can
also help to improve well-being, self-confidence, self-esteem and reduce social isolation.
".. they give me a little more confidence when speaking in public, I love the singing at the end and during the lesson. " L.P. Peterborough Parkinson's Group

''The sound that comes out when we speak is a product of what happens before and inside us; it is the last thing that happens when we speak or sing. It is so important to exercise and regularly use all the parts which keep our voices audible and understandable.
Coming together as a group lifts our spirits...we are with like minded people...we all have fun and give it a go. When we participate together, we belong.'' Sally Rose.
